HOMESICKNESS

Home, a place where you are born, is one of the safe places on earth. It is a place where you spend most of the time with your loved ones. I have been in Glasgow for six months and not a single day goes by where I haven’t missed my home and my family. I have always lived with my parents, and I have always traveled with them, so this was my first time traveling and living abroad without them.

Before coming to Glasgow, I thought that it was a matter of time, and with time I will be able to adjust myself to this new city, but it was way more difficult than I thought. During my initial days in Glasgow, it was a real challenge for me to live without my parents. At one point, I just wanted to leave everything and go back home. It was hard for me to focus on my studies. It was affecting me emotionally, as well as mentally. I needed help. One day, I found out that my university is organizing an event on mental health. I attended the event, and I talked about my problems. Discussing it with someone else helped me a lot because sometimes we need someone to listen to us. It helps us release the burden that we are carrying. Sometimes, I still feel lonely, but now I have enough confidence , which is one of the common good attribute and believe in myself that I can cope with any situation, even living alone in this city . My experience made me understood that it is not an easy task so I decided that in future I will talk to someone when ever there is a feeling of loneliness.
